Saludos desde España

Hola!

We've been here in Spain for a little over a week now, and we're having a great time! Blogging has proven to be far down on my list of priorities, but I thought I'd say a little hello! The temperature is constantly at over 30 degrees, the sun always shines and life is good. :) The days fly by and are filled with relaxing in the sun (or shade!), reading, bathing in the pool, eating, drinking, walking, shopping and sightseeing.

I'll be back blogging on a regular basis when we get home. :)

Fabulously floral!

Hi guys!

It's been a little over a week since my last blogpost and somehow time just flew by! We've been spending some time at my parents place where we finally got a little taste of summer when the sun decided to shine down on us. It was heavenly! But it's only 3 days till we leave for a 18 day long vacation to Spain where I'm sure we will get enough sun to make up for the shitty summer we've had.

I mentioned in my last blogpost that I was wearing one of my 3 new hairflowers. I finally got around to taking pictures of them so you can have a closer look! They are all from a Etsy shop called Sophisticated Flowers and I am loving the quality of them. The flowers look so real! They came in a cute box too that I am now using for sewing accessories.

Inspired by these flowers I got in a bit of a flower power mood and decided to make some of my own. I stopped by Ikea and got some cheap fake flowers and attacked them with sciccors and a glue gun. The back of them look a bit butchered but no one can see that! :)

So with these 6 new flowers and a bunch of others I already have I should be set on the flowery side of things for a while.

A little too much? No? :P

I also sewed my first ever piece of clothing, a circle skirt! I've done simple adjustments in the past but never made something from scratch, and it was so much fun! Even though a circle skirt is easy to make I'm giving myself a tap on the shoulder for it. :) I made a lot of mistakes (like buying twice as much fabric as I needed) but I'll get it better the next time. I can't wait to make more!

And lastly and totally random; a new plastic ring and some funky looking nails.

This will probably be my last post before we go on vacation on Tuesday. I'll try to do some posts while I am there, depending on the internet connection. :)
G'bye, hope you are all doing well!

Birthday girl!

Today is my 28th birthday, whoho!
I've had a very nice day so far. :) My best friend Bente and I met up for lunch and some shopping, the Mr and I had mousakka for dinner while we watched the Norwegian handball girls make it through to the finals in the Olympics, and right now he is out to fetch me some icecream! :D

^Wearing one of 3 b-e-a-utiful hairflowers I got in the mail yesterday, will do a post on those soon!

Tomorrow the boy and I are going out for dinner to celebrate some more, and on Saturday we're going to my parents place for caketime and family fun. :) A 3 day celebration, I am not complaining! :)

I hope you all have a great day, see you soon. :)

Recent randoms #4

If you're a nailpolish loving girl (or boy, for that matter) you'll know how annoying it is when they start chipping the moment they've dried. First world problems! I've heard good things about the Seche Vite fast dry top coat so I decided to give it a go. I went ahead and ordered a big refill bottle, and I also got (not pictured) a bottle of Seche Restore which can be used to thin out nailpolishes when they start getting a little thick and gunky.

So what do I think? Well, I put nailpolish + Seche Vite top coat on 6 days ago and I'm pretty impressed! First of all it did dry very quickly, and the finish was super glossy. There's no real chipping yet, but the edges are a little frazzled. They've matted down quite a bit but I can probably get a day or two more of wear out of them. I give it two thumbs up! Here's what they look like now:

On another hand-related note, I was at Bruktbo (second hand shop) the other day and I found this adjustable double heart silver ring. I thought it was cute so I picked it up and the lady behind the counter was kind enough to give it to me for free, along with a pair of earrings. Freebies, hooray!

I also got this fun box/bag from Bruktbo. I'll probably just use it for storage. It's made out of cardboard so I don't think it's very durable, but it scores big on cuteness! :)

And two more Bruktbo purchases: Two clotheshangers and a serving plate from Figgjo Flint, a Norwegian company. I don't know what set it's from bit I liked the design and that's all it takes for me! :)

Funky glasses! My boyfriend seemed to think I bought these as a joke.
I didn't.
:P

My parents gave me the Ikea sewing machine as a early birthdaygift! I've had my eyes on this one, I wanted a simple machine that I could use for small alterations and projects. I'm a complete novice when it comes to sewing so I don't need some beast of a machine. This one fits the bill perfectly. :)

Bags. Can never have enough!

Flats. Can never have enough! :P

After my boyfriends little phone mishap earlier this summer (smartphone meets asphalt = not a match made in heaven) I ordered a cover for mine. A cheap insurance for a pound.

That's all, folks!

Bete Noir brooch

A little while ago Betty Bee did both a YouTube video and a blogpost on her favorite pieces of jewelry. Among them was her custom double heart necklace from Bete Noire. It had a little crown on it and it said Queen Bee. Pretty darn cute! So it didn't take me many clicks to have ordered my own little brooch from the website. I chose the Blue Hawaii double heart style and I wanted it to say "Frøken Spjåk", one of my dads nicknames for me since I was a child. Frøken Spjåk is a character in the cartoon Knoll og Tott, or The Kattzenjammer Kids in English.

Sooo cute.

I was a bit worried that the glittery surface would drizzle all over but it doesn't at all. The brooch and shipping to Norway was a total of £10. Worth every single penny! Thanks Beth at Bete Noire! I'll be coming back for more!

Wedding weekend woes

This Saturday we attended the wedding of a friend of Krish's. It was a bit of a rough event for me. ;) Long story short, I fainted during the seremony, which was very awkward and embarrasing. And I forgot my dress at home. As if I wasn't stressed out enough to begin with, social anxiety nastiness and all.

For the seremony I wore my bunad, a national costume. I was going to change before dinner, but when we got to the cabin we had rented for the night, my dress was nowhere to be found. We were a bit busy before leaving home that morning and somehow I managed to leave the bag with my dress and accessories at home.  OH NOES. It was the last thing I needed after that eventful seremony. :P
We hopped in our car and drove as fast as we could to the closest mall (an hour away) and I powershopped like I've never done before. Ran in, shop, shop, shop, ran out, drove back to the wedding reception. We made it back in time for dinner. Success!

Here's the dress I was supposed to wear, my Tiki Twist dress from Dixifried.

And here's the result of my panicy shoppingsession, skirt from Lindex and a top from Vero Moda. I didn't have any jewelry with me (they were spending the weekend at home with my dress) but I did have a couple of hairflowers that I accessorized with.

Thankfully the rest of the night was uneventful for my part and I had a pretty good time. :) The bride looked beautiful, the groom very stylish. The food was delicious, the music was great, and I got to dance with my mister. <3

But I'll be sure to remember my outfit the next time. And try to not faint.
