Another weekend passed!

It feels like last weekend just ended, yet here I find myself late Sunday evening and a whole week has passed. Where did those 168 hours go? Time, please stop flying.

This weekend was again spent in the name of family fun. Saturday we headed to Krish's mothers place and spendt the night there, and today we've been with my family, celebrating my oldest brothers birthday. The sunshine finally decided to spend a noticable amount of time with us, which makes me a happy camper. :) Also a whole lot of cake and icecream was consumed, which helps too. :)

What happens when you try to take OOTD pictures and the boyfriend wants in. :P

Hope your weekend was as nice as mine! :)

My weekend in 16 pictures

Saturday: Birthdayparty at Bentes! Food, laughs, drinks and good times! Even the sun stopped by to say hello for a while. I think there were about 10 of us but somehow I ended up with pictures of only Bente, Bodil Krish and myself.
And oh, that feeling when you're sitting on a bus on your way to someones birthdayparty and you suddenly realise the birthdaygift you bought is sitting on the table back home. *facepalm* But thankfully Bente let us in anyway. ;)

Sunday: My brother Brage and I headed on a roadtrip to Tautra, a little island in the Trondheimsfjord. We were originally just heading to our parents place, but it turned out they were on a Sunday trip of their own so we decided to join them at their destination for dinner. It's been almost 10 years since I last visited Tautra so it was about time, as the area is beautiful! So lush and green. We ate dinner at Klostergården which lies right next to the ruins of a monastery that was buildt there in 1207. It will definately not be 10 years till next time I go there! I spotted two thriftstores on our way there too, but they were both closed on Sundays. Must go on a Saturday next time! :)

We stopped by the family farm on our way back and were ambushed by a couple of cowboys. Thankfully, we live to tell the tale! :D

Searching for that perfect pair of glasses

Back in May, I wrote a post about two pairs of glasses I had ordered from Ebay. They arrived only a few days later, but hmmmf. I wasn't quite feeling them when I put them on. I mentioned having bought a vintage pair of specks that I felt were too small, well, these seemed too large! Never satisfied, am I? :D

The first two pictures are the new cheap ones, and the third picture is the vintage pair (already with someone elses prescription in them, they are a pain to wear) that I got several years ago.

These are my current pair that I use, mostly just for finding my way from the bathroom and to the bedroom and vice versa, after taking out my contacts. These were from Zenni Optical and cost next to nothing with glasses and all. But I want me some cateyes! :)

I guess the search continues... :) Where would you suggest looking for vintage/retro glasses, any websites to recommend?

Kvinner og klær - Magazines from the 50s

In May when we were staying at the cabin, my aunt asked me if I'd like to have a look at some old magazines she had after a relative who had passed away. She didn't know what to do with them, but didn't have the heart to throw them away and figured out they would be a fun read on lazy summerdays at their cabin. She was right!

Look, it's a treasure! They are all from 1954 apart from 2 that were from the year after. This magazine is called Kvinner og Klær (Women and clothing) and it's still very popular today under the name KK. I didn't have nearly enough time to read them all, so they are waiting for me till the next time I go there. But I did snap some pictures of the articles inside that I wanted to share.

Love the dress to the left, and check out the purse to the right!

"Summery coctail with 4 ingredients"

"Norwegian women and French clothing"

Advice on what to bring with you for summer vacation

"Summer in sight" - And is that Queen Elizabeth to the right?

Ideas on what to wear to the beach. That polkadot explosion is fantastic!

"Bring your vanity to the countryside"

Crownprincess Märtha of Norway died in April 1954

Each issue of KK had loads of patterns advertised inside of them that you could order through the magazine

"Wrap a shawl around your shoulders"

Both of these cute American dresses are made out of cotton, and both have a daring cleavage. This is more common than ever this summer, but it is undeniable that it calls for nice collarbones.

I look forward to give them a more thorough read when I get the chance! As much as I love looking at the pictures the very best part was reading the housewife advice column, where people could send in their tips and tricks. It really made it clear how they made a little last a long way. This one lady told the story of when she accidentially broke a candle in two, but with a bit of cleverness was able to mend it. And you almost couldn't tell!

Dress daydreaming

The boy and I are going to a wedding this summer, which has made me realise I don't have a whole lot of "dressy dresses" in my wardrobe. Nearly all of them are dresses I would wear whenever, and when you're going to attend a big occasion like that you want to dress up a little extra, right? So this led me to Pin Up Girl Clothing to have a little looksy at their evening dresses, and lo and behold, on the first page *IT* was.

I instantly fell in love with the cut of the dress, and most of all the colour. Hello mustardy yellow, how I love you! Customer reviews on this dress (and the other colours) seemed for the most part to be very positive, and as much as I was telling myself it was too expensive at $108 I knew it had to be mine.

But then I started looking at the numbers. Oh reality, what a horrible monster you can be.
The dress is $108.
Shipping to Norway is $43.
Customs duty is $16.
Value added tax is $43.
Which tallies up at $210.

Sigh. Bye dress, it was fun while the dream was alive! :D
And this has been todays episode of #firstworldproblems.
