Saludos desde España

Hola!

We've been here in Spain for a little over a week now, and we're having a great time! Blogging has proven to be far down on my list of priorities, but I thought I'd say a little hello! The temperature is constantly at over 30 degrees, the sun always shines and life is good. :) The days fly by and are filled with relaxing in the sun (or shade!), reading, bathing in the pool, eating, drinking, walking, shopping and sightseeing.

I'll be back blogging on a regular basis when we get home. :)

Fabulously floral!

Hi guys!

It's been a little over a week since my last blogpost and somehow time just flew by! We've been spending some time at my parents place where we finally got a little taste of summer when the sun decided to shine down on us. It was heavenly! But it's only 3 days till we leave for a 18 day long vacation to Spain where I'm sure we will get enough sun to make up for the shitty summer we've had.

I mentioned in my last blogpost that I was wearing one of my 3 new hairflowers. I finally got around to taking pictures of them so you can have a closer look! They are all from a Etsy shop called Sophisticated Flowers and I am loving the quality of them. The flowers look so real! They came in a cute box too that I am now using for sewing accessories.

Inspired by these flowers I got in a bit of a flower power mood and decided to make some of my own. I stopped by Ikea and got some cheap fake flowers and attacked them with sciccors and a glue gun. The back of them look a bit butchered but no one can see that! :)

So with these 6 new flowers and a bunch of others I already have I should be set on the flowery side of things for a while.

A little too much? No? :P

I also sewed my first ever piece of clothing, a circle skirt! I've done simple adjustments in the past but never made something from scratch, and it was so much fun! Even though a circle skirt is easy to make I'm giving myself a tap on the shoulder for it. :) I made a lot of mistakes (like buying twice as much fabric as I needed) but I'll get it better the next time. I can't wait to make more!

And lastly and totally random; a new plastic ring and some funky looking nails.

This will probably be my last post before we go on vacation on Tuesday. I'll try to do some posts while I am there, depending on the internet connection. :)
G'bye, hope you are all doing well!

Birthday girl!

Today is my 28th birthday, whoho!
I've had a very nice day so far. :) My best friend Bente and I met up for lunch and some shopping, the Mr and I had mousakka for dinner while we watched the Norwegian handball girls make it through to the finals in the Olympics, and right now he is out to fetch me some icecream! :D

^Wearing one of 3 b-e-a-utiful hairflowers I got in the mail yesterday, will do a post on those soon!

Tomorrow the boy and I are going out for dinner to celebrate some more, and on Saturday we're going to my parents place for caketime and family fun. :) A 3 day celebration, I am not complaining! :)

I hope you all have a great day, see you soon. :)

Recent randoms #4

If you're a nailpolish loving girl (or boy, for that matter) you'll know how annoying it is when they start chipping the moment they've dried. First world problems! I've heard good things about the Seche Vite fast dry top coat so I decided to give it a go. I went ahead and ordered a big refill bottle, and I also got (not pictured) a bottle of Seche Restore which can be used to thin out nailpolishes when they start getting a little thick and gunky.

So what do I think? Well, I put nailpolish + Seche Vite top coat on 6 days ago and I'm pretty impressed! First of all it did dry very quickly, and the finish was super glossy. There's no real chipping yet, but the edges are a little frazzled. They've matted down quite a bit but I can probably get a day or two more of wear out of them. I give it two thumbs up! Here's what they look like now:

On another hand-related note, I was at Bruktbo (second hand shop) the other day and I found this adjustable double heart silver ring. I thought it was cute so I picked it up and the lady behind the counter was kind enough to give it to me for free, along with a pair of earrings. Freebies, hooray!

I also got this fun box/bag from Bruktbo. I'll probably just use it for storage. It's made out of cardboard so I don't think it's very durable, but it scores big on cuteness! :)

And two more Bruktbo purchases: Two clotheshangers and a serving plate from Figgjo Flint, a Norwegian company. I don't know what set it's from bit I liked the design and that's all it takes for me! :)

Funky glasses! My boyfriend seemed to think I bought these as a joke.
I didn't.
:P

My parents gave me the Ikea sewing machine as a early birthdaygift! I've had my eyes on this one, I wanted a simple machine that I could use for small alterations and projects. I'm a complete novice when it comes to sewing so I don't need some beast of a machine. This one fits the bill perfectly. :)

Bags. Can never have enough!

Flats. Can never have enough! :P

After my boyfriends little phone mishap earlier this summer (smartphone meets asphalt = not a match made in heaven) I ordered a cover for mine. A cheap insurance for a pound.

That's all, folks!

Bete Noir brooch

A little while ago Betty Bee did both a YouTube video and a blogpost on her favorite pieces of jewelry. Among them was her custom double heart necklace from Bete Noire. It had a little crown on it and it said Queen Bee. Pretty darn cute! So it didn't take me many clicks to have ordered my own little brooch from the website. I chose the Blue Hawaii double heart style and I wanted it to say "Frøken Spjåk", one of my dads nicknames for me since I was a child. Frøken Spjåk is a character in the cartoon Knoll og Tott, or The Kattzenjammer Kids in English.

Sooo cute.

I was a bit worried that the glittery surface would drizzle all over but it doesn't at all. The brooch and shipping to Norway was a total of £10. Worth every single penny! Thanks Beth at Bete Noire! I'll be coming back for more!

Wedding weekend woes

This Saturday we attended the wedding of a friend of Krish's. It was a bit of a rough event for me. ;) Long story short, I fainted during the seremony, which was very awkward and embarrasing. And I forgot my dress at home. As if I wasn't stressed out enough to begin with, social anxiety nastiness and all.

For the seremony I wore my bunad, a national costume. I was going to change before dinner, but when we got to the cabin we had rented for the night, my dress was nowhere to be found. We were a bit busy before leaving home that morning and somehow I managed to leave the bag with my dress and accessories at home.  OH NOES. It was the last thing I needed after that eventful seremony. :P
We hopped in our car and drove as fast as we could to the closest mall (an hour away) and I powershopped like I've never done before. Ran in, shop, shop, shop, ran out, drove back to the wedding reception. We made it back in time for dinner. Success!

Here's the dress I was supposed to wear, my Tiki Twist dress from Dixifried.

And here's the result of my panicy shoppingsession, skirt from Lindex and a top from Vero Moda. I didn't have any jewelry with me (they were spending the weekend at home with my dress) but I did have a couple of hairflowers that I accessorized with.

Thankfully the rest of the night was uneventful for my part and I had a pretty good time. :) The bride looked beautiful, the groom very stylish. The food was delicious, the music was great, and I got to dance with my mister. <3

But I'll be sure to remember my outfit the next time. And try to not faint.

Our weekend in a few quick snaps!

Ahoy!

We're back from our little trip to the coast, and I had such a nice time! And time just flew by as it so often does when you are enjoying yourself. We even had a couple of sunny days which wasn't expected. I had to attack a pair of leggings with scissors to make some temporary shorts. It didn't look particularly fashionable, but it did the trick! :)

We did a bit of fishing and I caught my first fish ever today! Between the 7 of us who were there many a mackerel was caught and eaten.

We stayed at this house (upper left corner), which belongs to Krish's grandma Mimmim. We were there with his mom, "stepdad", brother, sister and her boyfriend, and two überpoodles Hedda and Zita.

Hedda and Zita being good little models.

And then, in what seems like a blink of an eye, I'm sitting here at home again. A new, fresh week awaits!
Hope your weekend was a good one too!

OOTD - July 25th and 25th

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a pants girl. I know it's not the vintage thing, but the climate here doesn't allow for bare legs except from in a few short summer months, which we have been robbed for this summer. I have a closet full of skirts and dresses that I would love to wear, but they rearly get an outing because I don't want to get cold. And I get cold easily.
So here are the outfits of the day yesterday and today. Not so summery, but at least I'll be warm and comfy. Skinny black jeans and Freddies!

Pants: Cubus
Top: From my bestie
Cardigan: Salvation Army store (H&M)
Shoes: Eurosko
Purse: That bagshop at the mall that I don't remember the name of

Note to self: Need more mustardy yellow clothing. I just love it with red lippies and black hair.

Pants: Freddies of Pinewood
Top: Lindex
Belt: Bruktbo
Shoes: Eurosko

I'll be going on another weekend trip either tomorrow or Friday so this will be my last post for a little while. Stay safe and be happy!

New specs!

Hello new glasses, meet my nose. You two will probably be spending quite some time together, so get used to eachothers company.

Last week I finally went to have my eyes checked and now I have a pair of brand new glasses resting on top of my nose. They were a early birthdaygift from my Mr. I ordered these online and I couldn't belive how quickly they were manufactured and shipped. From ordering them to the DHL truck to pull up on front of my building it only took 5 days, 2 of which were the weekend. I was expecing it to take a couple of weeks!

On a whole different topic, my weekend was spent at the cabin where we had a merry time with family, food, Yatzi and lots and lots of sleep.
Only 3 days left till our next weekend trip!

Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Hot Sticks in the house

Quite a few vintage godesses out there have recommended using hot sticks for vintage style hairdos, so I've been wanting a set of my own for quite some time. But man, it proved to be a bit of a struggle getting them. First of all I couldn't order them from the US because the voltage is different than here, and I would have needed a adapter to make it work here in Norway. So I scouted UK Ebay for ages but no one was offering shipping to my country. Finally I found them at a UK site, ordered them, and soon recieved a e-mail saying they didn't have the product in stock, even though the listing for thm said otherwise. Waited two weeks, got tired, and asked for my money back. Eventually I bought them from BeautyBay and recieved them today. Whohooo!

My hair was already a bit curly and frizzy from another failed pincurl set but I put heat protecting spray in and got rolling. I just had to check them out as quickly as possible! :) I was a bit worried that 14 sticks wouldn't be enough, but I had 5 to spare when I was done. :) Next time I won't be so greedy with them. They heated up quickly and putting them in was easy-peasy. Done in just a few minutes, even thought it was my first time trying them out.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. Webcam pics is a saviour when you are lazy.

Left them in for 15-20 minutes, then took them out, brushed my hair, slapped a flower in there, and:

Hair done! So quick, so easy. I'm sure I will get a better hang of it as I try it out a few more times (and on hair that's not frizztastic from earlier) but for a first try I think that's pretty allright.
Ten thumbs up for hot sticks!

I'll be going on a weekend trip to the cabin tomorrow and I won't be back till Monday, and in a week we are going on yet another weekend trip so blogging will be a little scarce for a while. Hope you all are well in the meanwhile!

Recent randoms #3

I'm usually sporting red lipstick, but I wanted something a little less *KAPOW*! so I went on a hunt for a more coral coloured lipstick. I ended up with this one, Rimmels "Kiss Me" from the Colour Show Off collection. I'm not going to pretend to be a makeup blogger as I am forever a complete ditz with makeup no matter how many tutorial videos I might watch, but hey - Here are some pictures including me doing my best sexy face:

It was cheap and I like the colour. I can't vouch for the staying power of it as I haven't worn it for a longer period of time yet. The smell is pretty strong, a sort of sweet melony smell that was a little over the top but nothing I can't live with. And it matches my cardigan! :P

I got two pairs of sunglasses in the mail yesterday. The white pair is from Ebay and I already had them in black. Again, super cheap, $7. The pink and green pair is the Velma sunglasses from Bows and Crossbones and were around $12. On the picture on their website the pink looks almost like a dark dusty rose, so I was surprised to see it was actually a bright delcious pink. A pleasant surprise! :)

The Carmen necklace also arrived and I l-o-v-e it.

And I got some cards from the same company too. On sale, and cute!

A H&M hair flower/brooch.

And a funked up version of a french manicure! My nails have been in a sorry state the past few months so I've given them a much needed break from nailpolish. I don't know if it's because I cut them with a regular nail cutter (instead of filing, which I cannot stand) or maybe because of nail polish remover overdose? Anyway, after a long break they look nice and healthy again so I could finally put some polish on. :)

Have a super day!

Happy birthday mamma!

Today is my moms birthday! Gratulerer med dagen, mamma!

My parents are at the cabin so we didn't get to celebrate the day with them, but I'll celebrate with some pictures of her, past and present. And a song!

A picture of my mamma today, that my dad sent me.

Hipp, hipp, hurra!

One that got away + 2x OOTD

There's a Salvation Army store nearby that I stop by several times a week. It's on my way to and from the grocery store so it's almost impossible to walk past without poking my head in to see if there's a treasure waiting for me.
For the past month this bikini had been in their window display and I knew it would be mine, mine, mine. They have big signs in each window saying "Items on mannequins will be sold on *this and that date*. First come, first serve. No reservations!" so sadly I couldn't grab it when I first saw it, but I made a big fat note in my mental calendar saying that on Monday July 9th I better be there at 10 in the morning. So I was. The bikini wasn't. Snap!

I told the man who was working there, all excited, "I'm here for the bikiniiii, yaaay!" but he got a apologetic look in his face and said that one of their new employees had sold it over the weekend. Cue my disappointment. Luckily I took a picture of it a few weeks ago so I can show you what it looked like. Isen't it adorable?? Why yes. Yes it is.
I hope the girl who ran away with it looks and feels fabulous in it! And that I never run into her because I will probably tear it off her body. B-e-a-utiful! ;D

My pre-disappointment look:

Tank top: H&M
Cardigan+necklace: Salvation Army
Jeans: Freddies of Pinewood
Shoes: Rocket Originals

Also, my OOTD on Friday or Saturday? I'm not sure, but here:

Dress: Coldfish on Etsy
Bag: H&M
Sunglasses: Ebay
Shoes/necklace: Salvation Army

Suiting up!

The postman came bearing gifts today! *claps hands in excitement* A while ago I wrote a post about my hunt for a bathingsuit, and I landed on one of the choices I had listed there - I actually got it in two versions. I got two bathingsuits from Ellos and I couldn't be happier with them. The quality is better than I had thought and it was one of the cheaper options. Double win!

Background source
I got a black one because, well, that's a pretty safe bet. Since I made the initial blogpost they've added another version with what looks like a somewhat abstract orchid print? I don't know, but I got that one too. I was a tad unsure about the skirted bottom, it looked like it might look like a mini-dress and I had thought in the back of my mind that I might have to use the scissors on it, but when I put it on I was very pleased. No alterations needed, and thank goodness for that. I would probably end up butchering them if I got close to them with something sharp.
Add some cool shades, a hairflower or two, bangles, you name it... And I think they will do me good service this summer.

Speaking of accessorising, I purchased a couple of things from Bow and Crossbones last night. I was looking for some cateye shades that had a bit of colour to them, and via the wonders of Google I found a cheap pair (£8) that ended up in my shoppingcart. And whooops! A fruit charm necklace somehow snuck into the cart as well. Weird how that happens sometimes.

I hope you have a great weekend!
